About Today Meow

Hello and welcome to my food blog! My name is Anna, and I am thrilled to share my culinary journey with you.

I never considered myself much of a cook until I began moving countries. For me, food has always been a big part of feeling at home. My grandmother's dumplings were a signature dish and a highlight of celebrations and visits home. As I traveled more, food became a key part of exploring new cultures. Influenced by Anthony Bourdain's approach to travel, I learned that you must explore cultures through their food, and it must be done slowly.

My culinary adventure took me from Russia to Singapore, and now to Georgia. Along the way, I lived for months in India, Thailand, and Vietnam, often taking cooking classes and being adventurous with local cuisine. From exotic Vietnamese desserts to noodles with brains or stir-fry with snakes, I embraced it all.

When we first moved from Russia to Singapore, it was a proper immigration, not just travel. The adaptation was challenging, and we missed the familiarity of home. Cooking our home staples brought back that comforting feeling. I still remember our first Russian food restaurant in Singapore and the joy of finding home-cooked dishes like Olivier salad and honey cake.

As time passed, I began cooking more and more, joined an expat cooking club, and made friends who shared my passion. Singapore gradually became home.

Ten years later, we moved again, this time to the countryside in Georgia. Cooking dishes like noodles, Tom Yum, Laksa, and our favorite Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, and Singaporean recipes makes us feel at home again. Singapore has become a part of my identity, and I love blending its flavors with my new experiences.

My blog focuses on sharing recipes from the different countries I've visited or lived in. I love traditional recipes that have been loved and tested by generations and the traditional ways of cooking them. Sometimes, I like to merge different cuisines and create fusion dishes. Alongside recipes, I'll share cultural food experiences and travel stories.

While my professional background is in social media research, cooking has been a passion for many years. I even graduated from a Chef in Training program in Asian cuisines at a school in Singapore. My love for Southeast Asian and Slavic food deeply influences my cooking style.

I take my own photos and run a YouTube channel where I share all my recipes. I enjoy capturing the essence of each dish and the story behind it.
